About the breed

The Polwarth sheep is a result of interbreeding Lincoln and Merino sheep in order to produce a sheep with a hardier grazing range than purebred Merino.

This hybrid dates back to the 1880s in southeastern Australia. Polwarths have since been exported to many countries.
