About the fibre

Staple length 80-100mm. Micron count 30-33. 

Coarse.

Bergschaf wool is a medium-coarse wool with a bulky handle. It takes dyes well.

This lofty fibre with a long staple length makes strong yarn, and is suitable for wet felting and needle felting. 

Natural white.

Each bag contains 100g of wool.

About the breed

Although not officially established as a recognized breed until the 19th century, Bergschaf sheep are believed to be one of the oldest breeds. They have their origins in the Tirol region, and are a multi-use sheep well-suited to grazing and foraging in the mountains.
