Product Details
The Icelandic sheep is descended from the Northern European short tail breeds. Genetically the Icelandic sheep is the same today as it was 1100 years ago. It is possibly the oldest and purest domesticated breed of sheep in the world today.
The double-layered coat of Icelandic sheep is uniquely suited to cold and wet conditions. The inner layer, or thel, is insulating, superlight and very airy, while the outer layer, or tog, is long, strong and water repellent. Carded together, these two layers make lopi.
Clothes knitted from Istex Álafoss Lopi are cosy, water-resistant, and lightweight.
This product is ready to work and does not require winding first.
