The Icelandic sheep is descended from the Northern European short tail breeds. Genetically the Icelandic sheep is the same today as it was 1100 years ago. It is possibly the oldest and purest domesticated breed of sheep in the world today.
The double-layered coat of Icelandic sheep is uniquely suited to cold and wet conditions. The inner layer, or thel, is insulating, superlight and very airy, while the outer layer, or tog, is long, strong and water repellent. Carded together, these two layers make lopi.
Clothes knitted from Lettlopi are cosy, water-resistant, and lightweight.
"Quantity available" refers to the most recent dye lot in stock. In some cases, we may have additional items in older dye lots.
